Q. How do I use it?
Click on the logo at the top of the Homepage or the Club Shop icon in the navigator on the left of the page to enter the shop. If you are after a specific type of product, use the search boxes at the top of the page and click on Go. A list of retailers selling the product you are looking for will be displayed together with the price you pay and commission they pay to the club. If you are looking for a number of items from a particular retailer, use the A-Z of retailers tab. The By category tab will display a list of retailers for a particular product category such as gifts. The Newsletters tab on the end displays a list of newsletters which are published at regular intervals.
Q. How does it raise funds for the club?
Every time you make a purchase, a small percentage is paid to our club. The exact amount varies by retailer and is usually listed.
Q. What sort of things can I buy?You can buy most things you could expect to purchase online including services such as insurance. There are over 140 retailers in the program so you can be sure that you will find what you want.
Q. I am worried about online fraud - is it secure?
It is no more or less secure than going directly to the retailer's website. All the retailers listed are respected UK companies and should provide a secure method of paying for your goods. Secure websites use encryption technology to transfer information from your computer to the online merchant's computer. Encryption scrambles the information you send, such as your credit card number, in order to prevent computer hackers from obtaining it en route. The only people who can unscramble the code are those with legitimate access privileges.
You can tell when you are dealing with a secure web site in several ways.
Firstly look at the top of your screen where the web site address is displayed, you should see https://. The "s" that is displayed after "http" indicates that web site is secure. Often, you do not see the "s" until you actually move to the order page on the web site.
If you do not see https://, look for a closed padlock displayed at the bottom of your screen. If that lock is open, you should assume it is not a secure site.
The third symbol that indicates you are on a secure site is an unbroken key.
Of course, transmitting your data over secure channels is of little value to you if the merchant stores the data unscrambled. You should try to find out if the merchant stores the data in encrypted form. If a hacker is able to intrude, it cannot obtain your credit data and other personal information. Read the merchant's privacy and security policies to learn how it safeguards your personal data on its computers.
Q. Does it cost me more than going directly to the retailer's web site?
No - the same prices and offers will still be available.
Q. I already have an online account with the retailer - do I have to set up a new account?
No - if you are already signed up to the retailer you can use your existing account.
Q. Can I purchase my weekly groceries through the shop?
Yes, but at the current time grocery purchases do not pay any commission. This may change in the future!
Q. Where can I want to purchase club kit?
Club kit cannot be purchased through the online shop. A range of swimming goods including personalised items can be purchased from Swimscene & Dancers World. Click here for further information.
Q. Do I have to be a club member?
No - there is no need to register and anyone can use it! Please remember to tell your friends and family about the shop. Running a swimming club is a very expensive activity. The more people that use the shop, the more money we can raise and the less you will have to pay in fees! Please also make use of this poster that you can print off and display at your work, club or school.
