Bracknell Swimming Club has been in existence since 1962. We are affilliated to the ASA South East Region and are one of the one of the friendliest competitive swimming clubs in the south of England. Our aim is for all members to achieve to their maximum potential, while at the same time having fun.

We are based at the Bracknell Leisure Centre, but we regularly use pools at Harmanswater Primary School, Sandhurst and Minley. We always need more convenient and suitable water time, so if you know of a pool we might be able to use, please let us know. Our regular Club night is Tuesday, when all squads have a training session at Bracknell.

The main activity of the Club is competitive swimming and we have seven "squads" in the main section of the Club. If youngsters are not ready for a place in one of the main competitive squads then we are usually able to offer places in one of our pre-club classes. We also have a Masters Squad and many people compete in Masters events. Age is no barrier, as you get more points the older you are! So if you like swimming, come and join in too.

We are always looking for new members to join us, whatever your age or experience. If you are interested, just come along for a trial swim at 7pm at our club night at Bracknell Leisure Centre on a Tuesday. To have an assessment, print this water test form. Fill in the top section and bring it along on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. Following your assessment, you will be assigned to one of our pre-club classes or squads.

The Club is managed by a Management Committee, which is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting, and governed by The Club Constitution (go on, read them, they're not really that bad!).

The Committee administers the Club funds on your behalf. Our main expenses are coaching and teaching fees, pool hire and other items such as printing, coach hire for galas and trophies for championships.

Our main income is Club subscriptions, stroke development class fees, annual membership, sponsorship and fund raising events, including galas, etc. We do not receive any direct support from the Council, though they are supportive of our aims, and we do of course have the use of the pool, for which we pay the current tariff rate for a local organisation.

Bracknell & Wokingham is not the biggest club in Berkshire, but we have a large and enthusiastic group of swimmers of all abilities and enjoy substantial support from parents, friends and the local business community in terms of sponsorship, etc. In recent years, we have had an impressive record of success, with Club Honours both in leagues and at county level, as well as individual Club members competing at National and International level. An important part of the Club is a strong team of coaches and teachers under the leadership of our Chief Coach.

We therefore think we are the best!!
