Internal Competitions Inter Club Galas Leagues Open Meets Counties Nationals

Leagues

Teams for these events are picked by the Team Managers and Coaches. Fees charged for entering these leagues are paid by the club. Positions in the league are based on points scored in the same way as for galas. Leagues are organised into divisions to ensure similar strength teams compete against one another. We participate in the following swimming leagues each year.

Junior Cup

Another league run by the Hants and South Coast Swimming Leagues for junior swimmers aged U11, U12, U13 and U14 run over two weekends in September and October.

Premier League

This is a league run by the Hants and South Coast Swimming Leagues for junior swimmers - ages 9, U11, U12 and U13. This competition helps to introduce younger swimmers to League competition with participation in stroke relays (backstroke and breaststroke) as well as the standard free and medley relays. It is based on a two division format ensuring that the weaker teams/clubs are kept apart from the very strong unconstrained teams competing.

Rother League

Run by the Hants and South Coast Swimming Leagues over four Saturdays from June to October for swimmers aged U12, U14, U16 and Open. For further information see the Rother League Gala Rules.

Speedo League

This is the English National League, and is therefore the most important league that the Club swims in. Parents and swimmers are asked to give it priority over other commitments. We run a team in Division 1. There are three galas on Saturdays in October, November and December. The youngest age group is swimmers aged ten on December 31st.

Wey Valley Junior League

The Wey Valley Junior League consists of 15 to 20 clubs. BWSC will be participating for the first time in 2003. It is held over 2 rounds from January to March. The objective of the league is to stimulate interest in competitive swimming by holding competitions for less able junior swimmers at the same time as the County Championships. Swimmers who have qualified for an individual event for the County Championships the same year are not allowed to compete in the league.
