Congratulations to Andrew Willis, Jamie Shields, Steven King, Kathryn Willis and Annabel Humphreys who have all been competing at the British Championships this week.

The Championships saw a World Record, 3 Commonwealth, 4 European and 11 British Records. With such a high standard of swimming it was a fantastic achievement when a number of our swimmers achieved semi final places swimming personal best times and breaking club records along the way.

Indeed Steven King not only broke club records but also, subject to ratification, broke the British Age Group record for 15 year olds in the 100 butterfly in a time of 55.70.

The highlight was perhaps left to the final day when Mens' Club Captain Andrew Willis qualified to compete in the final of the Mens' 200 Breaststroke. Competing against, amongst others, the British Record holder Kris Gilchrist, Andrew duly won a bronze medal in a time of 2:12.69 which is only 2 seconds outside the British record and, subject to ratification, is a British Age Group record for an 18 year old. Andrew already holds the British Record for a 17 year old.

Congratulations to all the swimmers and of course to Chief Coach Nigel Willis and all the club's coaching staff who have nurtured the talent of our swimmers over the years.
