BWSC Masters continued their winning streak
BWSC Masters continued their winning streak and collected 19 medals in the recent Berks. & South Bucks Masters’ Championships

Attendance was lower than anticipated, possibly due to the proximity to Christmas, but BWSC was ably represented by Amy Vaal, Kirsty Johnson, Karen Leftley, Karen Bassett and Terry Wright.

The number of competitors combined with an eight lane pool resulted in a fast programme with little recovery time between each event. Thus as the day progressed stamina became the key factor for all the swimmers. Despite this the medal haul was impressive.

In the Senior (18-24 years) age group Amy Vaal won gold in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke with a silver in the 50m fly.

Competing in the 30-34 years age group, Kirsty Johnson took gold in the 50m & 100m backstroke and a silver in the 50m breaststroke.

In the 40-44 years age group Karen Leftley and Karen Bassett amassed 11 medals between them. Karen Leftley won 5 golds in the 50m & 100m freestyle, 50m & 100m breaststroke and 100m IM plus a silver in the 50m fly. Karen Bassett collected golds in the 200m freestyle and 200m IM, silver in the 100m IM and bronze in the 50m fly and 50m breaststroke.

Not to be outdone by the ladies Terry Wright won medals in both his events, collecting gold in the 100m IM and silver in the 100m freestyle in the 50-54 years age group.
