Success at the National Age Group Championships
Congratulations to Steven King, Annabel Humphreys and Ewan Laing who have competed at the National Age Group Championships
at which only the best swimmers from around the UK qualify to compete. Ewan, competing in the 12 year boys age category,
had qualified for the 200m and 400m Individual Medleys as well as the 800m freestyle. This was his second year of
qualification which is testament to his hard work throughout the year. Annabel had qualified in the 100m and 200m
breaststroke as well as the 200m and 400m Individual Medleys. She qualified to compete in the final of both breaststroke
events which is a huge achievement at this level of competition. After his successes in previous National Championships,
Steven had high hopes and although disappointed to have missed being crowned National Champion in any individual events,
he did win 3 silver medals in the 100m fly and freestyle and 200m Individual Medley and was, once again, BAGCAT Champion
in the 14 year old boys age group. He only missed winning a medal in the 200m freestyle by 0.24 second ! This is a huge
achievement and Steven continues to stand out as one of the country's outstanding young swimmers.
